Dr. Bob Carlson, M.D., FACS, is a highly skilled, board-certified surgeon with over two decades of experience in both open and laparoscopic procedures. Specializing in a wide range of surgeries, including cholecystectomy, hernia repair, colon resections, breast surgery, and minor vascular procedures, Dr. Carlson is committed to delivering comprehensive care to his patients. His expertise also includes certification in Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment for advanced wound care.
Dr. Carlson’s career spans multiple states, having held surgical positions in Texas, Iowa, Colorado, South Dakota, and previously in Indiana, where he practiced but no longer maintains a license. Prior to his medical career, Dr. Carlson earned dual undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Math. He worked as a Chemical Engineer in Texas for several years before pursuing medicine, bringing a strong analytical and scientific foundation to his surgical practice.
A graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch, Dr. Carlson completed his General Surgery Residency in 1997, receiving numerous accolades, including being named Best Resident of the Year. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and holds several state medical licenses, ensuring his ability to practice across different regions. Dr. Carlson is dedicated to ongoing education, holding certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
Outside of medicine, Dr. Carlson enjoys jogging, snow skiing, traveling, and engaging in hands-on hobbies like auto mechanics. His dedication to both his profession and personal interests showcases his well-rounded approach to life and healthcare.
